In a simple approach, modeling the progression of the COVID-19 in Switzerland follows the same differential equations as the one predicting the emission of a “giant pulse” in a laser. We look what those equations have for consequences for the number of cases in Switzerland. Not surprisingly, it is found that only the strict application of social distance has the potential to avoid a major public health disaster.
